I am trying to work on my skills shooting various sports around town. Here are some pics from a local high school meet this past week. All were taken with a 70-200L non IS lens (new lens for me). I welcome C&C - please let me know what you think.

Overall I was generally happy witht the results. I had the most difficult time with hurdles capturing sharp focus. You can see all the photos on my smugmg account below.

Love #8, I think #2 could be better if cropped in.

There are some good shots here. shots 1 and 3 (to me) are good as cropped because they are showing the lead runner winning, where as I think 3 and 6 should have been taken portrait in camera and tight.

Shot 2....let me open this can of worms.
Great action shot, but would she buy it? Grunts and non flattering expressions seem to be okay with males, but not so much with females.

I'll admit that my only frame of reference to base this opinion is that I've shot my wife and her friends in tennis tourneys, took great action shots, but the photos that they wanted was not the forearm smash shots, "look how flabby my arm looks!rolleyes1.gif " but the shots of them standing there waiting to return serve or in my wife's case smiling holding the trophy afterwards.

Is there a double standard on what is a good shot?eek7.gif
