Sorting a Smart Gallery

I have used a Smart Gallery to set up my What's New Gallery so it is always up to date. I have selected all images uploaded within a date range with the to day way in the future and I can then adjust the from date.

What I really want to do is sort this gallery by descending date uploaded. I have done a search and found conflicting threads about this. One thread said that arranging wasn't possible, but sorting was but I can't see how. When I select Gallery tools -> Arrange -> Sort it says "Sorry, that gallery contains no photos that can be arranged."

Go to gallery settings and choose the sort order there.

it's a smart gallery, and I've tried selecting "None" in gallery settings, but it won't let me arrange my photos (same error message as the person above). Tips much appreciated!

There is no manual sort for a smart gallery. It's something Smugmug has said they are working on.

I have 2 smart galleries setup. I have set the sort order to be Descending based on Date Taken. For one gallery - http://ryandky.smugmug.com/The-Kids/Alexys/11129532_b6EVd - the sort order works fine. For this gallery - http://ryandky.smugmug.com/The-Kids/Nate/11129593_xBZFH - the sort order i set in the gallery settings does not work. Any help?
