Tonight I bid Raptor. Sparrow Hawk to be exact eating a Lizard to be precise :D
Sorry for the lousy perch, guess I'll have to train him to sit on something more natural :lol4

He settles for a snack

He spies me but decides to keep munching

Then he decides he's had enough of me and gives one of those you buggin me looks :D

On this last shot I bumped ISO to hold a high shutter speed, figuring he was ready to take flight I was right but the Airport Cop that wanted to talk to me had other ideas $%^&*@# so no BIF tonight :wxwax :rolleyes

Nice captures....but what happend? Did the game change from BIF STUD poker to .....purched "Old Maid" birds ? eek7.gifrolleyes1.gif I was hoping for some more BIF to raise the pot. ne_nau.gifheadscratch.gif The birds were left on the table back at the original post ...were they not? **runs and hides after causing trouble**

That is a purdy bird..also. I have only seen turkey vultures in my neighborhood. I don't have a large enough lens to do them justice (yet). The little itty bitty 200mm doesn't cut it for them buzzzzzzzzzzards. thumb.gif

    Cheers

I like these shots Ben. The background is just so buttery smooth and contasts nicely with the raptor. Your Nikon glass is very nice. thumb.gif

What did the Airport cop say to you? I've wondered how they react to long glass in their neighborhood.

    thanks PF
Yeah love my Machine Gun and the glass in front :D

Cop was very polite but this is the second time of three that I've been questioned about my business there. this cop even said that they are very aware of people showing extra interest in this area, but interestingly he did not make any specific comment about camera gear or photography.

His exact words were, "We just want to make sure your not trying to blow up anything." I asked him if there was any chance of me getting permission to get inside the fenced area's (where the raptors actually live). He said not a snowballs, he also said that he (cops) can't even get in there!!

Hey Ben, you sure on your ID? It looks like some kind of kestrel to me and not a Sparrowhawk, so I'm not sure whether your bid stands mwink.gif

    Nice pics, especially #3

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
