I think it was a sales ploy. Best way to sell something is to tell them they can't have it. Having said that, up here in tundraville Canada, we might see one come September :(

    Thanks, Andy!
Andy's been talking about Tallyn's for a few years, but up until now I had no idea they were here in Illinois, just down the street. So, I just bought up the other two. One of those should be a good copy.

Canon 70-200 2.8f IS 2...B & H says they also have them in stock...and I looked at Adorama...and they have them. So, you are right, there is no shortage...and all advertise the same price.
Remember, no one may want you to take pictures, but they all want to see them.

New 70-200mm f/2.8 IS MARK II fantastic
After having previously owned 3 different 70-200mm IS f/2.8s and while they were quite good lens all 3 never were sharp wide open and particularly at 200mm but what an improvement with the new MARK II. The wild goose at the bottom of the gallery is a sample taken with the 7D and the new 70-200mm f/2.8 MARK II and shot wide open @f/2.8 and a focal length of 165mm http://williamrussellphotos.smugmug.com/gallery/3512031/1

Congratulations on the new lens. clap.gif

From my browser I see a gallery but it's not clear which image is from the 70-200mm. Which image is shot with the new lens?

    Impressive work BTW.

Hello Ziggy, It is the "framed' goose at the bottom of the gallery. Let me know if there are problems.

Looks fine. I like the out-of-bounds treatment. Image sharpness looks great too.

Thanks Ziggy, glad you liked it. I haven't had much time to spend yet with the 7D and the new MARK II 70-200 but so far I am really pleased. Bill
