I have been using the CROOKED HORN OUTFITTERS Bino Strap.....actually made for large heavy Binoculars but has worked well for carrying a dslr with a f2.8 70-210 and above it another Bino strap with a Dslr with a f2.8 24-70...........that system takes all the weight off your neck and places it across your shoulders and back...so it is distributed.

I have pick the Bino Strap up at WalMart in the sporting goods where the scopes and binoculars are on the peg hooks.........they are also availble (or were) thru Bass PRo, Gander Mtn, & cabelas. last one I bought cost right at $20......very little for all the neck strain I do not endure any longer.

I recently bought the R-Strap (www.blackrapid.com ... check the demo videos) and when I'm not actually holding the camera I forget I even have one with me. A little pricey at $60.00 but I'm so glad I spent the money. Order it from B&H and they'll charge a whopping 50 cents for 3 day UPS shipping.

What I really like about the BINO SYSTEM STRAPS is that my camera hang in the middle of my chest and the elastic straps also help stabilize the larger lenses such as the 70-200's and the BIGMA which frequently hangs from a BINO SYSTEM STRAP....coupled to one of the D300's.............I am looking at fabric stores for heavier elastic as I'm getting to the end of the life of my current Bino System Straps after 5 yrs of constant abuse they are getting to the end of their lives........but it was only a $20 investment and well worth it.......I had looked at the others mentioned above but my cameras were frequently hanging around my neck doing 50-90 mph while out heading to a shoot on motorcycle...............

When i carry my D90 and Tamron 70-200, or for that matter any lens, heres my setup.

I have a D90 with a hand grip the Nikon one, so my neck strap (SmugMug of course) is on the left side of the camera looking from the back, the camera goes over my right shoulder and hangs on the left side of my body, I have extended the Smug strap with a quick connector system, in case I use a tripod I can remove the strap. Since the camera is hanging on my side I can use my left hand to support it in crowds, this really works out great walking around in the city. This position balances the weight, and I dont have any issue just bringing the camera to my eye to shot.

Definately a black rapid. I have several of them, we even use them to carry a tablet on one side and a camera on the other in the field.

Here are a few suggestions through, I leave my tripod plate on my cameras, I also have a hand strap, which I couldn't live without, but I've connected either to the bottom of the hand strap, or through the bottom hand strap loop, two little cords to connect my black rapid strap to (why two? I didn't trust just one.) I can post pictures if you like. But it's great for me, I can go from tripod, to hand carry with a hand strap to black rapid without worry. And when I carry my 70-200 f/2.8 IS with me, I hook the black rapid to the tripod mount on the lens (well, I have the tripod plate with a connector on it, so again, I can remove the tripod plate connector and use the lens on a tripod.)

But black rapid is clearly the way to go. Look at the RS-5, it's my favorite. If you're a big guy like me, look at the RS-7 and ask them to send you a Burt (which is an extender.)
