okay, I've done it again. I've envisioned and stepped prob a bit too far out over the edge. but thats my most cynical.

1. Does this photo composite speak for itself, or is it simply another dud?

2. Too Complex?

3. Too Simple?

4. Too?

No worries from me ( or apologies from you), just opinions if you please. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Tom,

For me it's not obvious - but maybe it doesn't have to be headscratch.gif

I wonder about adding a low opacity photo of a person in the buff... or a plant or something.
But seriously... making the "what is being created" part of the story as well, might put it over the edge of ambiguity to something amazing and easy to understand.

I just realized that it would be a naked man... fire... lightening... Anybody else remember that conversation?

Tom, I like the idea but agree with Heather that something being created probably needs to be included.

(Don't forget about the hedgehog Heather.)

Indeed! that is indeed what it is.

In this case Norse-like in that Ice and fire and out of it was created: Ymir.

But the ice and fire were in the beginning. Of course if I have to say that, then the photo doesn't speak near loud enough!

    thank you!

Oh yes. So right you are HeatherFeather...I wanted to do as you suggested, but then thought second of it....only because I didn't want it to be any further from the beginning than it had to be. Even though the mythological traces are thin, they do speak of fire and ice...from which Ymir, the Frost giant was created. I had actually done one with Ymir included, but felt I had crossed the line of simplicity....and as far out there as I can get Simplicity needs to be my personal watch -word!

    thanks!

I like the buff idea, and shoot in that realm quite often, but understand that even implied in the challenges may be too much of a challenge for me

maybe I'll render something tomorrow. If I do, then input would be wholeheartedly appreciated by one and All!

    thanks~....great dead on suggestions!!

It is a really cool image and now knowing that it is based on Norse mythology, it makes more sense.

And now I understand why some of my images fail. The context may be obvious to me, but not to a more general audience. I keep trying unusual takes on the themes, but when I go too far out of the norm, I lose some part of the community. Thanks!

    Another conception
Rendered yet another image, this time with Man emerging. Motif remains.

How does this strike you all?

    Thanks in advance~

The human figure gives more clarity to the image. Well done! clap.gif

Ice and fire kind of reminds me of the Robert Frost poem, "Fire and Ice".

"Some say the world will end in fire,
    Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
    Is also great
    And would suffice. "
