Beauty dish and a Halo

Playing with an Alien Bee beauty dish and a Halo umbrella. Also a very pretty gal. Not sure which light source I like the best. Dish has somewhat of a shadow and the Halo less of an edge.

I personally prefer the second pic much more than the first. I tend to like contrasty pics vs. softer ones though.
Canon 7D and some stuff that sticks on the end of it.

I'm always partial to the BD....the fall off is even and the eyes just pop

You can always get rid of or soften the shadow from a beauty dish with a white reflector. I just finished this one up tonight and used that technique.

Great shot!!!! I was using an eyelighter under the subject. Got to do more experimenting.

A couple of really nice shots Hackbone! I tend to like the beauty dish in this set as it gives a nicer skin tone. I tinkered with a very similar setup with the shot below. I had the young lady stand in front of a 6' octabank angled up at about 30 degrees right back at me and I had a tri-flector right under her face with a custom ringlight for shoot through.

Randy, I like it alot, congrats. Neat idea about it coming back at you. How about a pull back next time you do it?

I may have a pre-setup shot that I can post if you would like. It may not be the exact final but the gist is there.
