Packages and alternate checkout methods

Our business model is structured around providing digital images to our customers. We're in the market for a turnkey gallery / hosting website solution and with the addition of package support it looks like SM offers almost everything we need.
I'm looking for clarification on the following.
Is it possible to set-up packages that will allow a customer to select X number of prints (ie: Package A= 5 images, Package B = 10 images, etc..). I would like to have my customers select the package and images they want - then have that information sent to me for processing (ie: delivery of digital images on CD).
I understand SM doesn't currently support digital download of packages. Can I use Paypal or Google checkout to process the order and have the information, including image names or some identifier, to me?
Any help would be much appreciated? If this is possible, how hard would it be for a non-programmer to do? What kind of coding expertise would I need to get this done.
Thanks in advance.

Andy - thanks for the quick response. I'm not quite sure what you mean that this "isn't possible yet with out packages". I thought SM now supported packages. What do you mean "without packages"?
