Yesterday (Saturday April 3d 2010 that is) I went on a scouting trip to see if the poppies are ready. It turned out - they are :-)
Here are a few snaps from the trip!
#1: Apparently, I was not the only one with this idea:
#2: People were pretty much everywhere - outside the official gounds, like me:
#3: And on the trails of the official park grounds:
#4: Yet another look at the park grounds:
#5: Poppies!
#6: Trying shallow DOF:
#7: That 100mmkII IS sure comes in handy sometimes:
#8: And for dessert: a mandatory "muench star" from the Joshua Tree in Saddleback Butte park:
Enjoy!

I don't know about them, but me and my party were verrrrry careful about that.
It's Antelope Valley, Caifornia Poppies National Reserve, just 10 miles off Lancaster...
I was there also last week but seems like there's a better poppy show outside the reserve.
I was told that the peek is expected in a week or two. I'll be going back then
Yeah I hope to come back also (but now with a model or two:-)
And no, I don't know about any sedating effect of these little poppies...
