Apply watermark to multiple pictures as a batch?

how do I apply a watermark to a large quantity of pictures at once..?

I do not have a lightroom.
help?

It might help if you told people what software you do have.

Or, if you're using Smugmug, create your watermark, upload to Smugmug, define it as a watermark, configure gallery use that watermark, then upload lots of photos to that gallery and they will be watermarked.

I have the CS4 adobe master suite.

And, yes, I know about the smug option, and I have it utilized already.

I want to burn a DVD with a recent concert shots, though, and would like to get the shots watermarked.

Simply Google "photoshop watermark action" and follow the links. Then apply the action using the automate/batch command.

pictures are of a different size, so batch action doesn't put them in the right place at all times.

Try FastStone Image Viewer, it has a batch mode which allows you to translucently add an image using offsets from an anchor point (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, etc.)

Here's another link to scaling a watermark in Photoshop. Same concept as the link Thunder provided but explained a little differently. I use it all the time and it works great.
