Been a while. Just wanted to stop by to say hi to everyone. I'm remodeling my master bedroom and bathroom so I've been way too busy. No pictures to post... again, just saying hi.
Be back soon.

Yeah... we finally started our master bedroom and bath remodel. This is the last area of the house that was untouched. We finally took time to figure out a design and I "broke ground" 5 weeks ago. It's a pretty big job. We knocked out the existing walls that separated the bedroom area from the bath so we can enlarge the bathroom and put in a large walk-in closet/dressing area.
So far it's going well. I have reframed the new walls, moved all the drains to their new locations, run all new electrical, installed the new recessed and task lighting, installed the new subfloor and today, I removed all the old windows, did the rough framing on the new ones and installed a huge 8 foot window. Tomorrow I will put in the other window.
I still have a ways to go. Have to run a gas line to the new tankless water heater, install the water heater, run all the water supply lines to the shower, sinks and toilet. Then I need to drywall. Then float the new shower pan and install all the backer board. Then comes all the tile, then the hardwood floors and then the paint.
Holy crap. When I write all of it down it seems like a lot. I can't wait till it's done. The shower will be amazing. 8'x4.5' of tile and glass. It's a his and hers shower with body sprays and rain shower heads. That's why the new tankless water heater. Need a dedicated one to supply enough hot water.
I've been taking photos but haven't uploaded them... still on my CF card. I will post some as soon as I do though.
Talk later.

Sounds like a great project and the makings for a 'how to' photo shoot!
Glad you stopped by.

When you come to a door... walk through it.
If it's locked... find an open window.
Good luck with all that work Cuban.

BEFORE:
Bedroom from doorway:
Funky 70's Mirrors which separate bathroom and closet area:
Reach-In closet area with vanity and a lot of unused space:
Original Vanity from 1968:
Shower with weird baby bathtub (notice the plug above the toilet... never figured out why the heck you need a plug there):
PLANNING:
DEMOLITION:
Had to demo the 1.75" concrete subfloor since I am going to be laying solid hardwood flooring… carrying 10K pounds of concrete down a flight of stairs, two 5 gallon buckets at a time was not easy.
Here’s the wife vacuuming up the dust after I was done removing the concrete. Notice the cage in the background… that is where I keep her when she doesn’t do what I say.
Looking at the bathroom after I was done removing all the plaster and lathe from the walls and ceiling… this is where the funky mirrors used to be.
CONSTRUCTION:
Electrical and HVAC vents are done… recessed lighting and all new receptacles and switches. Only electrocuted myself twice. My goal is usually at least 3 times. The job is not done yet though so there will be opportunities.
They actually work!!!
The new walk-in closet after framing and new OSB subfloor.
Looking into the bathroom from the walk-in closet… that’s not a ladder, it’s the frame for a pocket door.
Another view of the bathroom… have to remove that window and reframe and install the new larger one. That’s this weekend.
View of the entire room. You can see the new 8 foot window I installed on the weekend. I insulated and drywalled that area since rain was coming. Forgot to upload the pics I took of removing the old windows and framing and installing the new one. Almost fell off the roof pulling the old windows out. By the way… anyone want to by a slightly dusty round upholstered chair? I will give you a good price.
I still have a ways to go but it should come together quick.

It makes me exhausted just looking at the pictures!!
Hope to see you back in the challenges soon.
Maybe even this one. A 50's looking photo with your wife all dolled up demonstrating how easy and what fun it is to use the vacuum cleaner. Oversaturated - slightly soft. Just saying ....

Shot of the floor and border:
Another of the floor and shower pan with the unfinished curb... that piece of border in the corner is not installed. Just taking a measurement so I can miter it:
Here is a shot of the pan. Have to replace the drain cover. Got messed up with thinset and scratches:
Shot of the ceiling:
Pic from the bench:
Floor profile... nice and flat, no edges sticking up... really proud of that:
Gettin a little creative. This is a shot of the deco tile on the wall, the window and the ceiling:

What are you saying... my photography sucks? :duel
Just kidding... I do neither for a living. Maybe that's why I love doing both so much.
BTW, thanks to all for the kudos. It means a lot.
