I might be getting one in the next few days and was wondering if anyone has experience with this lens.

In the brief time I tried it these are the main things that I found:

-Light for what it is

-Doesn't expand (keeping the weight towards the body which helps me)

-Slow AF

After playing with the lens for a bit wings.gif

Why can't they make em like this anymore?

The AF is well about as fast as my 28-75 F2.8 Tamron if not a little faster (not sure how that rates for the Tamron but that one is sharp as hell deal.gif so I can live with it)

And the build quality is amazing, I have never felt a zoom ring that is so precise, it makes the current Nikkor's feel like toys especially the mid level ones where this was.

Wednesday will be my first day of shooting with it (it's going on the Fuji S5 while the Tamron will be on the D700) and I have high hopes for this combo!

Thanks, now for an actual review.

The lens is pretty sharp, not perfect but good enough for almost all uses.

The big issue is the AF, it is a good bit slower than the 28-75. The main issue is having the focus close to the proper field of view, if it is then you are fine otherwise it hunts and this is with the Fuji S5 Pro.
