Grest shot, especially with the snow on the mountains.

Jury is still out on the contrail, but otherwise Sam this is my favorite image I have ever seen of Mono. Ya orange and red sunsets are nice but the whites and blues you have here are amazing.

[Note to self... go to Mono when there is snow on the mountain peaks!]

Thank you for your kind words!! It's always a big plus (makes you day) when others enjoy your images.

Mono Lake is a very interesting place. The tufa only forms under water and the reason we can see it today is because the water level was drained. Currently there is a restoration project to allow the water level to increase by about 10 feet in elevation. This will hide a lot of the tufa we can see today, so if you want to see this for yourself I recommend you plan a trip in the near future.

    Sincerely,

    Sam

I was just there this past weekend and the weather was not nearly this nice! It was all howling wind and flying gritty snow. lol3.gif

I had no idea about the restoration project ahead of time, and in a way it's a shame to say bye to the cool tufas. But it's for the best. Thanks for sharing!
