I was at the start of the Desert 100 Motorcycle race this weekend and I saw these eyes looking my way.

Caught ya!!! Nice grab and I agree nice eyes. Not what I was expecting at a motorcycle race.

Might be me but I would like to see it cropped tighter to eliminate all the background of other riders etc. Not saying all of it as that give you the history of the shot but seem to be a lot on the left side of the picture that could be taken out of the shot and maintain the setting. Just me.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks

I played with the crop and I settled on this one mostly for the rule of thirds.

Do you have enough resolution to crop it to just her, portrait orientation? That would really draw the attention to those peepers (which are indeed gorgeous thumb.gif)

I like divamum's idea of a portrait crop. I also agree with your decision to use the rule of thirds in the landscape crop you posted. What is to her right (your left) in the picture? Part of the distraction is that the rider to her right in the picture is also in pretty sharp focus. If you placed her on the right side of the picture, you might lose most of the rider on her right and have the out of focus riders on her left. You could also mask her out and add blur in PS, but that would take some time. It is a great shot and worth some time to work it up.

I guess you are talking about her pink grips, I will look at separating both of the women riders from the background. I wish I had grabbed more than one shot, one thing about shooting these races it is teaching me to get the shot the first time because there are no do-overs.

    Here is another version.

I gave it a tighter crop.
I selected the girls using Topaz Remask which is an awesome tool.
I adjusted the blacks on the girls
I used a Gaussian blur on everything else

I like the second crop better too. Also, the second post is a little larger and that makes her eyes stand out even more. This is a good lesson to me how a couple minor changes in a picture can have a big impact.
    Thanks,

Oh ya, the second one is great Allan!! I really like what you did and also checked out Topaz Remask. It looks to be a pretty cool product!

Where was this race at? I think I may have had some friends there. I looked at your photos at your site. I enjoyed them. I am sure that some of my friends were there now as I see it was in Odessa.

I bought the topaz bundle it seems like a lot of software for the price.

The race was the Desert 100 and it was a zoo.

I just talked with one of my friends that was there, but it was on Saturday for the Iron Man Poker Run. Do you know of anyone that took pics for that? Mike would like to know if you do.

    Thanks, Ron
