Death Valley Mix

I had the opportunity to lead a workshop with Marc Muench at Death Valley this week. We had a great group and we really found some awesome light and subjects!
First morning, we shot up the Dunes just outside of Stovepipe Wells:
(Canon 5DII, Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L IS Mark II)
later, when the light was much stronger:
(Canon 5DII, Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L IS Mark II)
During the heat of the midday we found flowers to shoot:
(Canon 5D Mark II with Canon 50mm Macro lens)
Of course we hit The Racetrack (road is MUCH improved and the trip is about an hour quicker this year vs. last year):
(Canon 5D Mark II with Canon 24-105)
On the last morning we went back to the dunes and we were rewarded with some cloud cooperation as the sun rose. It was truly a jaw-dropping beautiful sunrise to watch and be part of:
(Canon 5D II with Zeiss ZE 21mm f/2.8 lens on board)
I've got more to post, maybe later this week
Thanks for looking and
Enjoy (Landscape) photography,
- Andy

I like your Race Track shot. Nice perspective.
Interesting that you found the road much improved.

Not that I didn't expect them to be of course.. I love the simpleness of the b/w one
The last sunrise shot is a winner too! Great set.

We had no tracks to deal with - we went to the super secret area that nobody knows about

Photos that don't suck / 365 / Film & Lomography
Having zero luck in the poppy fields of the Antelope Valley he looked into the valley of Death at 280 feet below sea level......
Still with no luck, he looked into the bowels of the valley.....
Success, with kryptonite found he could fly again!

It's funny how a different perspective makes for a different picture.

The sand dunes were easily the best place we stopped.

The salt at Badwater didn't disappoint either.

I want to see Andy's feet after he got out of the salty wet mess!
Well his shoes, at least, seem to have been preserved for eternity
