EXIF data removal and metadata help

Hello all:

I am trying to find out a couple of things.

If someone purchases a digital download from me, is the EXIF data in the photo they receive?

I do not want to make my EXIF data available to the public. So if it is in the digital download, then I would like to know if there is an easy way to batch remove EXIF data.

Additionally, I've seen some mention of meta-data being used as a security feature. Can someone please explain this to me along with how I can use it for this purpose?

I did try to search online and on the forum but couldn't find the answers I was looking for.

Many thanks again!

Original size Dig downloadshave ALL metadata. So if you've added something into IPTC data, it'll be there when it's downloaded. 4 and 1 megapixel downloads will have IPTC Author & Copyright.

All dig downloads will have all camera exif info retained (camera data, exposure, date taken, etc).

If you want to strip this, then you'll need to do that when you create the files in photoshop or other program - easily doable.

There are free batch exif removers like BatchPurifier LITE and JPEG & PNG Stripper.

Metadata cannot be used as a security feature. You can add copyright information to photos (with programs that supports IPTC metadata, or the newer XMP metadata), but this information can be easily changed or removed just like Exif can be removed.

Guess, it's a good thought to selectively remove EXIF in some cases when publishing photos online. For that, you may use the well-known EXIF tool by Phil Harvey. And I personally prefer this batch EXIF remover, because with its help there is no need to deal with a command line. BTW, it also detects/deletes other types of metadata such as XMP, IPTC, etc.
