Cactus Blooms

We hiked in the desert and the poppies were all gone - but the blooms on the cactus are going strong!

6. Can anyone identify this? I have no idea what it is. I've tried to research but found nothing. we came across this huge bush while hiking. These spiked gourds were all over the bush.

    Very good work. It always amuses me how some otherwise homely plants can look so pretty.

    Thanks for the comment - I really enjoying the cactus blooms but they are just too short lived.
