Having trouble, Epson R220 and printing to CD

I have an old Epson R220 that I just took out of the closet, updated the drivers, and did a test print. It prints on paper just fine. Now I'm trying to print to a CD using the custom tray and the Epson supplied software. However, that software won't recognize the printer. Very frustrating. Any tips?
