Unwanted image compression when linking to forums

I recently bought a smugmug account, based on the fact that it offered "unlimited storage and bandwidth".

I uploaded a few 1600 pixels wide JPEGs, and hotlinked them to some forums (including DPR). I noticed that Smugmug applies strong image compression when hotlinking these photos at "X3" size (there isn't even an 'original' option for hotlinking :scratch ). A 1600 x 1063, 885 kB image becomes a 1600 x 1063 sized 255 kB image!!! Not Good :soapbox .

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting to turn off the compression?:scratch

I don't know about the compression stuff but I'm assuming that you are getting the photo links from the 'share' button on the gallery. There isn't a direct link to the original but you can always cheat and create one. If your large link ends in something like this '/428475233_4dhMq-X3.jpg' then just change the X3 to 'O' for originals. This of course will only work if you have Originals available has your largest size

Good luck on the compression issue
