What is "generic RGB profile"

Ugh..... sometimes Apple....

I made a photo book in Aperture. I then went to print it, using the PDF services. I used the Print PDF to JPG pages because I plan to use my own book vendor and I need JPGs for each page. Here's the problem: the color space is "generic RGB profile". What in the world is this, and why is a pro app from Apple using this color space? And I see no way to change this. The automator action that creates these jpg's has no choice for color space other than "rgb".

ugh.

Anything I can do other than batch the JPG's through Photoshop to convert the color space to sRGB so I can get the book made?

Interesting question that I do not know the answer to Bill.

I have a suspicion that the generic RGB profile is for Aperture's on line book publisher. Whether that will work with YOUR publisher so well, well, let's just say I have some doubts. I had a book make via the original V1 Aperture and their online publisher and was quite pleased with it. That is the sum total of my Aperture experience.

Maybe Andrew Rodney will explain it us.

Its a really, really old legacy RGB space from Adobe actually based pretty much on the old Apple 13" CRT display. There's zero reason to be using or looking for it.

At least in terms of printing from Aperture for books (when you order them), the PDF that is created and sent to them is Adobe RGB (1998).

So it sounds as if the print PDF to JPG pages is worthless. I'm going to try printing to PDF and see what color space that is in. And then extract each page out of the PDF. Lovely. So much for an easier flow to create photo books. :(
