This morning everything was still ok. Now I find that in every gallery, my header and navigation has been replaced with some smugmug icon, links, search field etc. In addition, I get unwanted links at the bottom, and the light box now has a white border around every picture. My home page and the category pages ares still ok. I have not changed anything, so this must be on smugmugs end. Can somebody please take a look. Thanks!

    It looks to me like your galleries are all set to:

    Appearance = Smugmug

    instead of

    Appearance = Custom

    Now, that I look at it - my galleries are all this way too. Smugmug must have just messed something up. Even MoonRiver's galleries show the same problem: http://www.moonriverphotography.com/Galleries/Capitol-Reef-National-Park/9952035_QwYXM#679497652_5uENB.

    Looks like the html or any customization is not working in any gallery only on homepage and cat
    and subcat pages. Probably due to maintenance/upgrades going on now, maybe???

    Thank you all for the quick reply! If it's so wide spread then hopefully this will be fixed soon.

    Man, it's just frustrating that there's no notification of any kind on the Smugmug Status Updates Page. That's the first place I looked when my site went wonky, but since there was no mention that the maintainance window was even being used tonight, I wasted a half-hour rummaging through my site code looking for a problem that doesn't exist.

    I think we should not be glad to know that this is a Smugmug site wide issue. I'd rather it be isolated than site wide.

    It is even less encouraging that there has thus far been no communication whatsoever from Smugmug about this issue. Nothing in this forum, nothing on the Status & Updates blog, nothing at all. Notwithstanding the hour, someone at Smugmug surely must be aware that there is a major problem with the service right now. If not, that is also a major problem...

    There was no 'official' comment on the status blog when smug was down for 30 mins earlier this week.

    We don't update status blogs with bugs like this - the status blog is for site availability.

    Had I been here, I'd have responded right here on Dgrin - Devbobo (Sorcerer in Australia) took charge, got our CEO & Chief Geek on the case and got things fixed. We regret the bug, and we're very sorry. It is all fixed now.

    Thanks for the response, Andy.

    From my point of view, I had no way of knowing if the problem was a bug or if, considering the timing, it was a function of the maintainance window being used. In fact, I spent a long time looking at my own site code for the problem until others began to post on the forum that the trouble was site-wide. In any case, it was frustrating to not know what was going on.

    I realize that in the grand scheme of things, this site disruption was not that big a deal. But it nevertheless caused myself and others more grief than was necessary because there was no communication from Smugmug as to the nature of the problem (or that they were even aware there was one).

    Perhaps in future situations such as this the protocol could be changed to where a note would be posted on the Status blog informing us that there is a bug and that it's being attended to. It seems to me that last night's particular bug was disruptive enough to meet the Status blog's 'site availability' use-threshold.

    Ultimately, it's not the occasional downtime or bug that troubles me, rather it is the lack of effective communication about them. I have no doubt that you would have posted immediately had you been here. I suppose I'm just surprised that there was nobody else available to do so.

    Thank you for your attention to this - I know you are all doing your best over at Smugmug and I appreciate your understanding that my criticism is sincerely intended to be constuctive.
