Been around the world, taken a few hits, but still working! Ever since MrsIt got her new MacBook for her bday, the Powerbook has just sat on the shelf. I thought I might use it to surf the web on the couch, but not so much. Maybe someone out there can get some more use out of it before it goes to the recycler???

Price: $100 +shipping

The good:
  • screen is perfect, not a scratch, maybe 1 dead pixel.
  • mechanically sound (keyboard, touchpad, button, airport, speakers, etc)
  • it's running Mac OS 10.5.4
  • has Office 2004 installed
The bad:
  • it's got a couple dents in the body
  • the battery is pretty much dead so it needs to be plugged in all the time
  • when it dies, sometimes resets the date to 1901 (or something like that)
  • the power adapter is aftermarket (just means it has a shorter cord and doesn't have the apple on it, otherwise fine, had it for over a year).
The specs:
  • 1.33 GHz G4 PowerPC
  • 1.25 GB memory
  • 60 GB hard drive

(the sticker will come off cleanly and easily)

before you send it to the crusher I'll take it and pay you shipping...I can't quite scrape the $100 right now though.

That usually means the motherboard PRAM/clock battery needs to be replaced. A lithium part that lasts about 5 years. The one for my PowerBook G3 cost $30.
