created virtual copies without trying ??

I upload all of my pics to a "holding pen" gallery, and then I move them from there into their appropriate galleries. Today, I uploaded 19 pics to the "holding pen" gallery and after I moved them to their final homes, I was left with virtual copies of all them in the "holding pen" gallery. WTH?

I didn't do anything differently; Tools - Many Photos - Move to Gallery. What's the deal?

Update:
This appears to have "fixed itself". Virtual copies went away all by themselves and I moved pics again this morning without issue.

This same thing happened to me tonight ... except they have not cleared themselves up.
