A different take on lo-fi-C&C?

So, I think I'm stretching the definition of lo-fi, but if i take it to mean, going back to the old fashioned away of achieving affects while pressing the shutter, rather than in PP, then I come up with these. I'm still working on one soft-focus concept, I need to wait for the sun to clear the apartments, but honestly, everyone else has done the pets and plants better than anything I've come up with yet. So here is my alternative take

(selective colorization, the old-fashioned way)

1) And the Great Turtle waited (for the sky woman):

2) Turtle races:

3) No title yet.

I didn't realize how many stuck pixels I had on this camera, I never use it like this.

Any comments? On either the photographic merits, or appropriateness for the theme (which is entirely a matter of interpretation, I know).

And one of failed cat ones, darn animal just wants to much attention anytime I come near him:

(the shot I was trying to set up had only 1 background element, besides the cat and cat reflection)

Something about that cat photo really grabs me!!!! I think it might be the saturated green and yellow blanket...but I really like the cat's expression. Really really like this one!!!

Thanks, I really like that one too, but when he woke up and turned toward me I had to lean back to keep him somewhat in focus, and then the perspective tilted and the background got too busy with the dark bookcase behind his ears. I tried to crop the top off, but it doesn't look good with all of his ears gone.

The second turtle picture really makes me smile. Very neat effect!!

As for the last, the oof cat is fine for this challenge. And the background doesn't bother me. (Disclosure: I love cats!). I like the saturation.

PS - I'd love to know what you did with the blue one.

The background bugs me, I wanted just a saturation of color behind him, but i agree, the oof (puzzled?) face in the camera is ok.

The turtle is vaseline glass (uranium oxide) illuminated with long wave UV light, the blue is a small metamorphic rock with benitoite crystals (very UV reactive), illuminated with short wave UV light. This one might be more interesting for a conventional shot with just a second of visible light to bring out the other crystals in the rock just slightly. Both are shot on bulb, my UV light is really weak and I need long exposures to get a saturated image.
