My New Rookery!
Well....I finally got out today.
I went to a little forest preserve that I had been going to in the spring these past two years where a Great Blue Heron pair were nesting. Instead of the single nest there were four!
The swampy area where the herons nest is very hard to find an open spot to shoot from. There was this big old tree that I would lean against that was my spot. Well....the big old tree had fallen and taken down with it the tangle that I always struggled to see through.
Now I can very comfortably straddle the fallen tree and sit there in luxury with a nice wide view. :clap
Obviously a Nikon loving Heron (mocking my canon gear).
Now where does this go?
Applying the air brakes.

You really have to come down to Florida some time and I can get you to nesting sites w/o the hassle.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks Harry.
I've been meaning to get down your way. I would really like to meet you and see the wetlands. Seems like there is always something that keeps me from it (besides the normal procrastination, that is).
This was a bad winter for me...but things are looking up, so....after the fall shooting season here (the best) we'll have to try hooking up.

Thanks!:D
You have to make a trip down to Viera.
This year I used the 100-400 for the GBH and Anhinga nest building and then the 500 once the chicks hatched. There are nests in the "Lake" where you can stand on the road and just shoot away. No walking needed, just park, get out with the tripod and camera setup. Decide on another lens? Walk the 15-25 feet back to the car.
Good!
Thanks a lot, Mike.:D
Thank you, Gale.
Thanks, Dan!:D
Hopefully someday!:D
Thanks!
I'll try for the young ones.
