These days I have been able to hook up with the local Murasaki Sports to take photos of their various events and competitions. These are pretty relaxed and lots of fun, and I even get a little cash for my efforts =)

This even was the first round in the Murasaki Sports Skateboard series that they do every year. First, I was happy for some decent weather for most of the day, and second, I was soooo surprised at how good some of these little kids were. Seriously, even the littlest of the kids were dropping in on the big hits, and just kept getting back up from crash after crash. Way to go kids!

Here are just a few of the better images, but MANY more on my site.

As I will be shooting several of these over the summer and C&C is really welcomed.

Wow.. you got to shoot outdoors. I just shot an indoor event about a month ago for fun and to better learn my camera. My best shots were from the lowest angle or showing a little motion blur on the hands and board during kick flips. Bugs eye view would have made that ollie shot look so much higher. Looks like you are taking a few risks being so close.

Excellent shots! What sort of glass did you use to shoot these?

Ya, I was getting a little closer than I realized at the time, but I like how they turned out. And ya, I guess one of the boards could have come flying into me, but the kids liked me being so close.

I was using the Nikon 18-200 as well as the Nikon 10-24 lenses. The 10-24 got some of the most interesting shots for the day, but for the jump in the middle I couldn't get close enough to use it so I had to use the 18-200.

And thanks for liking the shots! Much appreciated!!
