    Good one Ian - lovely colour.
    Looks like it's on a dead camelia flower ?

    Lighting still looks fairly strong with those hexagon shapes on the eyes. You either have quite a lot of strong sun in the shot or the flash needs more diffusion or perhaps needs to be nearer the subject.

    Thank you Brian, must admit I don't know what the flower is. It's a largish bush though :). I'll find out.

    I have to admit I need to resolve both the issues.

    The flash is mounted on the hot shoe and my only diffusion at the moment is a sto-fen which is next to useless for stuff like this. removing those hexagonal shapes is my main goal.
