This is three frames stacked with Zerene. Obviously I have a lot to learn, but I was pleased with my first attempt. I hand held these shots on continuous shooting on manual focus, moving my body forward as I shot. f/5.6 with Cannon 100 mm IS.

Thanks Brian. I'd like to be able to do this with critters. What next steps might you suggest.
Extension tubes, rail, technique, etc? Thanks. I love the work you guys do here.

Before trying lots of things . I'd just practice with single shots upto 1:1 with bugs until you feel confident about getting keepers. Not sure if you have a flash system but that would be first on my list followed by a set of extension tubes.
Lots of info on my setups and tips etc here http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=807056
