but missing an antenna (feeler) what are they called?

Not a true macro, cause I cropped the heck out of it, but for standing
6 feet away, it ain't bad.

Very nice! thumb.gifclap I've always liked grasshoppers. Reminds me of chasing them around the back yard when I was a kid.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Can you believe
My grandson's never seen a grasshopper? I used to love coming across them on sidewalks, on paths, etc.

That's a great photo, and from 6 feet away, even if cropped... Wow...

Thanks guys. The only reason I was six feet away is because that's the
minimum focus distance for this lens. This little guy wasn't afraid of me
at all. After I took a couple of pics, I kind of bent the grass he was on
to see him a bit better. He just held onto his piece of grass like nothing
    was going on.
Anyway, thanks again for looking and commenting.

A small extension tube - 12mm or 20mm - will let you get a lot closer with the same lens you used for this shot. And yet since you are still farther away than with a typical macro lens, you will retain greater depth of field than getting much closer with a shorter focal length lens. Hmmmmm.....:):

    Nice shot davev.

    Nice shot davev.
Thanks for the info. I have read a few things about extension tubes, but haven't
seen them in person. How much closer can the tubes get you? Can they be stacked?
I've read that you can buy them in a 3 piece set. Do you lose any stops while
    using them?

I think I'll put this up in accessories for more folks to find.

Anything you know about the tubes will be helpful.(that goes for everybody):D
    Thanks Pathfinder.
