#49 WTH? First ideas

Thinking close lately - first few ideas I've had. Any thoughts?

Fibrous
Fibrous is the best shot IMO b/c:

1.) I'm not sure what the heck it is. That is important b/c that is what this contest is about
2.)Nice DOF. A lot of photographers forget about this with macro.
3.)Nic comp. The negative space is well balanced

My second is Whirlpool
Looking in doesn't capture my interest and the rest are colorful but they are fabrics so I know wha they are.

I like Whirlpool, but wonder if it could be better executed with a stacked focus?

I'm not even seeing the red X's, the photos are not showing up in this thread at all on my end. scratch

While I do like the patterns in #1, there is something about #2 that keeps dragging me back to it, I love the lighting on it, and it certainly gets me wondering what it is.

I really like the latest image you posted.
Is it some type of glass?
2 is interesting and might fit the them better because you can see definite focus and
I don't have a clue what it is.

I agree with Tim, it keeps drawing me back to look and see if I can figure it out.
