So, it should be obvious to most what this is.

The differing bristle lengths (that with the naked eye seem so perfectly sized) really draw my attention. I'm still working on a title, though was thinking the title should have something to do with the bristle lengths - perhaps something like, "a problem with quality control?" or something similar.

Maybe this is not macro enough? I have plenty of pixels available to crop, but I sorta like the current composition. Thoughts?

Or, this whole idea could suck :rofl and if that's the case, please do tell me!

Oooohhhh.....I like this. The color combination works really well with this & the lighting is right on. I'm undecided on the crop, though. I like it the way it is, but depends upon how technical the judge will be with the 'wth' part. Right now, it's pretty obvious that it's a toothbrush. So if part of the goal is to make it hard to determine what it is, then a different crop or a different angle might meet that better. Maybe just have the bristles and part of the base without any 'dead space' on the left.

I love this idea though. I'm envious, too. I've been walking around the house all morning looking at anything & everything up close to see how interesting it is. I haven't found any inspiration yet.

I really like both versions. I love the color...much better than the photo of the toothbrush I took this a.m.

the lighting on this image is very nice! I think lighting macro is a challenge and you've done it very well. I like the uncropped version best, even though it's obviously a toothbrush. May not work for the WTH theme as well, though.

Thanks all for your input.....much appreciated. iloveyou.gif

kdotaylor - sorry for taking your toothbrush idea (I hate when that happens).:cry

Sherry - thanks for your kind words. I'm struggling to decide how important the "WTH" portion of the theme is.

TLVoDra - thank you - I tried different lighting angles, this one look best IMO. I agree with you - I really like the uncropped version as well, just trying to decide which is better for the challenge though. headscratch.gif

Tatiana - thank you for chiming in. I think I might submit the cropped version and then spend the week mulling over it. Or, I might come up with something better.

A square crop would really suit this shot imho.

I also think a square crop would work great. Right now, though, I'm liking your original a little better than the crop you posted. The crop took out too much of the white (for me). Could you try the square crop with a few more of the white bristles showing to see how it looks??

    Loving your idea though.
