Kyle Senior Pictures...guys are tough

Well this is the third guy in 5 years I have shot portraits of...guess it is not my specialty. Guys are so hard to pose...they have never practiced it or thought about it....they need to look studly and their skin and hair is....whatever...

So anyway Kyle comes straight from a lacrosse game to the shoot banged up knee and all....tosses on some jeans and a shirt...we are ready.

Really nice kid we start talking about sports and girls and he settles right into it. We shoot a few spots and then he pulls out the hat...
Well who am I to judge, people in Idaho dress like that. The look kind of works for his personality.

We finish off with a few in the lacross shirt with his stick. We had a great time and a few good laughs, Kyle did pretty good.... actually for a guy he did great.

Usual equipment d3 85 1.4 natural light shots, and d700 70-200 2.8 for the flashed shots. Flash was an sb800 on a stand through a 42" softbox.

Guys *are* harder, I think - girls are more vain (usually).

Great set, man - really. If I were his mom (or his girlfriend) I'd want TONS of prints!!

OMG If I were his mom I'd be broke. They are so fantastic. bow The lighting is amazing and the poses look so natural. I really love the ones where he is sitting on the wall. The light is perfect.

Yeah for the most part I agree, guys that are not vain are pretty easy to get a natural look out of...unfortunately it is usually that "are we done yet look" haha.

I am really starting to love the bright sun in the background shots....I used to worry about blown out backgrounds.
After looking at a lot of pictures from the best natural light photographers I came to realize that they embrace the blown out backgrounds and use them to their advantage to isolate their subjects.

Oh my! I had to stop and catch my breath a few times!!!!!!!!!!! FAB! You definately rocked this shoot (no pun intended, lol). Really seriously wonderful work! 33,34,37,38,43 and 49! Geez, you grabbed SO much personality here...I feel like I know the kid! FABULOUS!
