I might of cropped tighter frame left to loose that whatever sticking in.
It grabbed my attention and don't think it should.
Thanks, Ben. It's the instrument case of the violinist. I don't like it either. I didn't crop it out because that would have meant losing the cup of the beggar far in the background, but perhaps she isn't clear enough to matter. OTOH, I could also lose some of the junk on the street sign. Hmmm... let's see.
Ha ha .. awesome capture! I like the original version, as it captures the environment better. The open violin case is mildly distracting, but that can be easily cloned out. Cheers.
I like the original crop Richard. I like the composition, more context. What a great catch, especially with the fiddle player watching the elderly gent. I like the similarity in posture of both the statue and the man. They seem to mirror each other. Perhaps he modeled for it years ago.
The use of a camera is similar to that of a knife. You can use it to peel potatoes, or carve a flute. ~ E. Kahlmeyer
... I'm still peeling potatoes.
I have looked numerous times and conclude that that is a "street performer" that the older man is reaching to touch to see if it is a statue or person. At first, I thought he had money in his hand, but realize it is a crack in the wall.
Meanwhile, the violinist is wondering why the guy without any talent is attracting the attention...

Prefer the cropped version too!
Got bored with digital and went back to film.
I love the expression on the main character's face, and the worried glance of the violinist!
For a moment I thought the miner had his hat on backwards (…Woody Allen?), but on looking again, that might just be the battery case.
I'm not too worried about the cropping - the composition is fine, and my eye wanders around it just as it should!
Beautifully captured, and perfectly timed!
Nice job!

And yes, rainbow, you nailed it--that's exactly what was going on. He's an excellent violinist, BTW.
