Moving entire sub-categories

Is there a way to move entire sub-categories to a different category? The only way I've been able to see is to create a sub-category under the new category and then move each gallery over. Even with the multiple galleries setting thats an excruciatingly painful process (the galleries that need to be moved are all several layers down ...and theres a couple hundred of them). Please (please please) tell me that there is!! :uhoh

There is no quick way to do this. A sub-category is not a container in Smugmug like a folder is so there's no way to just drag it somewhere else. It's just an attribute on a gallery so to move a whole bunch of galleries to a new sub-category, you have to reassign the sub-category on all the galleries. If the multiple-gallery settings feature would just let you pick a category or sub-category of galleries, it would have been perfect at this, but somehow they missed that useful feature. I know of no way other than picking all the galleries.

Wonderful. I'm actually becoming upset about this. I've spent the last hour plus moving galleries and only have ONE subcategory moved. This is the same process you would use to change the gallery settings, what if I wanted to update the settings in half of my galleries? I'd be SOL. The "multiple galleries" process as is, is only suitable for changing the settings on 3-4 galleries at a time. I need it to do 100. :soapbox

Using SmugBrowser you just right click down thru the gallery tree and change the sub-cat.

15524779-Ti.gif We NEED this feature! It is so hard to use the multiple gallery feature if you need to make major changes to a category, etc. :cry

Are you moving EVERYTHING in one category/sub cat to a totally NEW, unused category/sub cat? You could just rename them instead...

That would only work if the category is a custom category - you can't rename the standard smug categories.
