Some bugs I've noticed recently

1) Movies produced with my Sigma Dp2 have the colors in the wrong places.

Examples:
http://www.markmroden.com/Kids/TMR/TMR-in-Montreal-2009/9205526_LMGtf#614517183_4nJyG
http://www.markmroden.com/Kids/TMR/TMR-in-Montreal-2009/9205526_LMGtf#614518711_cssF6
http://www.markmroden.com/Kids/TMR/TMR-in-Montreal-2009/9205526_LMGtf#614916189_RJjYZ
etc-- there are six in that directory, and a few in other directories as well. The thumbnail is fine, but the actual video has the colors in the wrong places. The videos are fine before uploading.

2) Mass watermark change/removal doesn't work.

To repro:
Tools->Gallery Settings
Select 'multiple galleries'
Select 'all of my galleries'
check the Watermark box
Either turn watermarking off, or turn it on and select a particular watermark.

I have tried both of these settings, but again, watermarking is still inconsistent on my site.

Thanks!
Mark

    Oops
I just saw the 'bug reporting' forum, could a moderator please move this thread there?

    Thanks!

    1. Wow that is interesting. Can you try converting to another format besides the AVI and see if that corrects the problem? I have not seen that before. It looks like it might be the codec used but I am not sure.

    2. I am afraid that you cannot do that at this time. The option should not even be presented in that way. Currently the watermarking gallery setting is for new photos as they are uploaded. To watermark existing photos, you have to do that using the watermarking tool in the gallery tools menu.
Sorry for the confusion on that.

    1. What do you suggest? I'm not well versed in video, but I have iMovie. Won't that mess with how the video is compressed, ie, run it through compression a second time and it could be filled with artifacts afterwards? These videos are already straight out of the camera, and very small, so I'm nervous about further degradation.

    2. Is there any way to globally replace watermarking? Because I have some 4.8k photos in quite a few categories/subcategories/galleries, and doing it one at a time is excruciating.

    1. Further data loss is always possible. So why not make a copy of the original to work with that way conversion does not hurt it, just in case.

MPEG Streamclip seems to work well:

    http://www.squared5.com/

    There's a Windows and a Mac version.

Here are instructions on how to export the video from Streamclip.

    http://wiki.smugmug.net/display/SmugMug/How+to+convert+and+format+a+video+for+upload+to+SmugMug

Another converter that you might try is called AvidMux. You can get it here: http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/
It can convert some file types that StreamClip cannot like WMV.

For MOD, VOB, or other DVD type formats, take a look at Handbrake: http://handbrake.fr/

    2. I am afraid not at this time. Sorry. Watermarking is very intensive for the system as we have to create new display copies of your images. That is multiple sizes for each image. So we do not have a tool that can do it at this time. Sorry. Maybe in the future.
