Cold Portraits, after dark.

So I went to this little workshop thingie sponsored by one of the companies I shoot weddings for. The guest speaker was Mark Suban of Nikon Pro Services. Mark was very knowledgeable about all things Nikon and Nikon wireless TTL. What I got out of the workshop was this, Nikon has a WAY more advanced and expansive wireless TTL system than Canon. Well for the sake of the Canon shooters present, I set up a 580ex w/omni-bounce and a gridded 430ex to play with, I only had one light stand.

It was dark, like REALLY dark, everyone was having issues focusing. I was shooting an 85 f1.8 so I had less issues. Toby was our model and I felt bad for her because it was REALLY frickin cold and most of the time everyone was just chimpin'. So yeah my first experience in one of those shoot out type of enviros made me never want to be in one again. But I still got some decent portraits.

Obviously I'm not happy with all of the shadows, but I think the light in the third one is very nice.
