This old girl is in our neck of the woods this weekend. I had heard nothing of it and a couple days ago, I was out on my walk at noon. Way off in the distance I saw a plane flying low and instantly was pretty sure it was a B17. They have a pretty distinctive signature in the sky. Then as it flew closer I was positive as I here the drone of those magnificent old radials!! I love these old planes!!
I hope to get some pics of her in the air this weekend, but stopped by on my way home a couple of evenings ago and took this shot.
I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for looking!

very cool, Ron... clone out that sign post next to the tail, and this could have been taken in 1944... the perfect kind of shot for magnificent old warbirds like this one...

    Thanks Rocky!

You know it is kind f funny. I should always have another pair of eyes look at my pics before I post them. You are do right about removing the sign. It will be pretty easy to do and WOULD enhance the photo. Thanks for the input!!

Now I am TORN!!! I love them both! One interesting point I did not notice until I saw the b&w one. The front cowling is missing on the the engine closest to the fuselage on our side. That makes it look even more 1944!

I live in Long Beach, Ca and every year we get a tour of old WWII bombers that come in for a few weeks, usually a B-17, B-24 and B-29. I see myself heading down to the airport to take some bomber pics now for sure!! They let us crawl in the planes and they also give flight tours. They take off right over my house. I suppose I will have to try to get some photos of them flying too!

    Thanks!!
