Apart from the last shot I was just using my coke-can diffuser (see here http://www.flickr.com/groups/macroviewers/discuss/72157594312315664/ )
but with an PC LCD screen diffuser plus a sheet of kitchen towel over the end.

Not sure the specific material matters that much - I just have a play every now and then with different materials. I suspect a piece of plastic bottle together with the kitchen towel will have similar effect. You just need to watch that you are not stopping too much of the flashlight. You can check this by firing at a test subject with the flash in manual, with and without the diffuser and look at the flash timings for equal exposure. I tend to aim for around 2 stops light loss with the diffuser but that is a balance between the amount of diffusion I want and the ability to take multiple shots without the flash recycling
