Found this syrphus sp. hover on a fir tree the other morning - looked a bit cold so i coaxed it onto my finger for a warm up in exchange for a modelling session.

How do you get a hoverfly or any insect, to sit on your finger for you to shoot, pray tell?

Thanks
Dan - if they are a bit cold they will happily walk onto your hand to warm up. I purposely encouraged this one onto my finger, But for example today I was trying to shoot a miner bee on a dandelion flower and held the flower underneath to stabilise it - the bee immediately walked out of the flower- down the underside and sat on my hand to warm up
