I agree with the Pontiac even if you could not read it by looking closely the chrome down the center of the hood and the hood ornament gives it away. But, I would be more inclined to go with the earlier of the date range that Angelo gave. My dad was selling Olds, Buick, and Cadillac during that date range and the entire GM line was very similar in shape.

thay do look very simmalar to the untrained eye. i have no reply as yet from Pontiac to find out the excate model of that car.

It looks more like a 1949-1951 Pontiac to me. Since it is a GM model, the hood and fenders look a lot like our 49 Chevy we had. Thats a nice find.
