Just learned how to make a pseudo hdr from a single raw exposure. Here is my first attempt.

What a fun picture! It looks like a movie set or a poster, and even a framed photo in just the right place! I feel very invited to walk through the gate!!!thumb.gif

Thanks Art. I'd be happy to.

    1. Import single raw exposure into photomattix using the batch processing feature.
    2. Select pseudo hdr and tone mapping
    3. Set Tone mapping sliders (this is where you have to experiment to taste)
    4. Run program
    5. Import output image into your favorite editing software (I use Aperture 3)
    6. Edit to taste.

Just tried it. But, am I missing where to play with the sliders? I only see a way to set the sliders prior to running the conversion, but not being able to live preview it.

How is this different than taking 3 virtual copies, taking one up 1.5 exposures, and one down 1.5 exposures, and then merging then to a regular Photomatix HDR?

Love the pic, by the way.

Right, you have to move the sliders first and you don't know how it will look until after you run the program. Bummer.

As to your second question: I do not knowne_nau.gif

Nice job. Using a single image is about the only way to create an HDR when there are trees involved, unless it is dead-calm.
