crocodile getting a carp

Where I come from crocodiles are very common (southern Mexico) but they never cease to amaze me. the main park in my town has lagoon, and a lot of crocodiles live there. I was taking a stroll once with my girlfriend and she told me that a carp jumped right infront this guy and he was going to get it, I readied the camera and this is what I got:

compositionwise is horrid, since I would have loved to get the crocodile on the other side of the picture, then again it all happened so fast, and I like it because I was focusing manually (the D40 lacks a focusing engine and I only have lenses without cervos) and I got it sort of right

Great catch, for both you and the croc. Learning WHEN to press the shutter is half the battle. You are on your way. Upgrade to auto focus later.

Holy carp! That's a great capture.

If you are not satisfied with the composition, you can crop it, but I don't think it's all that bad.

You captured the moment! That is what counts and it looks great! You have fantastic detail with both the carp and croc! Great action as Harry said. thumb.gif

Wow. There's a point where a photo speaks for itself and even if the composition or angle isn't the best, it totally doesn't matter.
