Killdeer at Burlington Prairie
This adult spotted me...
...and promptly crossed my path and started the old "oh woe is me" routine to draw my attention away from...
...the chicks that were romping around in the high grasses.
I guess I shouldn't have...but I couldn't resist holding this one in my soft gloved hands. It was quite a thrill for me and the chick didn't seem to mind at all.
Killdeer young are precocious, that is, they look like the adults and can get their own food at a very young age.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Thanks, Harry.
