So, I have started this new little saga of telling the same stories of adventure with this one person, abby. It has been a very fun endeavor. Let me know what you think.

Hi Alec & welcome to DGPF…

I took a look at your galleries, and although the girl is gorgeous, and the ideas are sort of OK…

…but to be honest your pictures are all so dull and flat, they did absolutely nothing for me, except to make me think "why are they all so dull and flat?"… ne_nau.gif

It looks like all your optics are filthy or scratched, or you took the pictures on an overcast day, or late in the evening after the sun had gone; IMNSHO the lighting looks dreadful, and the quality of the pictures reflect that… ne_nau.gif

…perhaps I'm missing something here, in which case perhaps someone could explain to me exactly what I'm missing? ne_nau.gif

    Thanks for sharing!

Will, you take photos and put white vignettes on them, so I don't know what you're missing. Same with pointing the flash right at someone like you do in many a photos. Harsh lighting and direct shadowing are things I have never been a fan of, but that's just like, my opinion man. Thanks for your opinion, and I will definitely consider the things you have said. I love the soft lighting. It was an overcast day on these sessions, like you said, and I think it brought a certain serenity and brilliance to the photos. The girl stands nicely off the background and contrasts well with here surroundings. None of the photos, even the ones I posted above, in my opinion, would I deem as dull and flat.

and thanks to everyone for your comments!

    shazam,

    alec

    …snip

I think perhaps you might be confusing me with someone else. I can't recall any of my pictures being vignetted; it's a technique I seldom use (if ever), and I can't think of any of mine where that has been done; perhaps you'd be so kind as to provide links…

Well OK, they were done nearly 40 years ago, and that's just a portraiture technique done by simply smearing Vaseline™ on the very edge of a UV or plain filter (much less expensive then buying a soft-focus lens, or a diffusion filter). Any more vignettes?

Ah, OK! Masha's Party: Well, they were mostly snap-shots, on-camera flash, mostly bounced, except for those taken out-of-doors, and all diffused. The only one which was "arranged" was "Eat! Drink! and Be Merry!"

Thanks for looking and good luck with your projects!
