This is the first time I have taken photos of a waterfall and I would like your comments please. I use a 40D and took these 24-105. Is it best to take these on One Shot, Al Focus or Al Servo.
I took these shots of the Grey Mares Tail near Newton Stewart, SW Scotland.
Kind regards
Bob

Sure is the right forum now. :D I'm no waterfall expert- wish we had more here in Michigan. They are such beautiful subjects.
I like the vertical compositions - the last one is my pick. I like the colors going on in the pool.

When it comes to waterfalls, you want a slow shutter speed. It looks like you did that with #1, 2 and 5 but not with #3 or 4. A neutral density filter will help. Other than that, I would boost saturation quite a bit.

Typically, with landscapes, you would ALWAYS want your auto focus to be set at "One Shot". The other two modes would be used for subjects that are moving such as with sports.thumb.gif

Thanks Jeff so I take it I should have it set on Alservo when taking a waterfall shot and use a very low shutter speed.

    NO

Set at "single shot" for landscapes. Waterfalls are stationary.
