Hey guys..

Trying to find me some glass to give me <20mm angle, and give me 2.8-3.2 range..

Do they make those? Or is it normal for a wide angle to be at 4-5.6G range?

Am I better of getting me wide angle primes, then?

one of the things I want to achieve is to get me a lens that will have a fish eye distortion.

If you want fish eye, get a fish eye. Nothing else will really give that amount of distortion.

If you are a Nikon guy the Nikon 10.5 2.8 is pretty cool.

In addition to the Nikkor 10.5mm fisheye Zerodog mentioned, Sigma has 4.5mm f/2.8 and 10mm f/2.8 fisheyes for crop bodies and 8mm f/3.5 and 15mm f/2.8 fisheyes for full frame. Tokina makes an 11-16mm f/2.8 rectilinear zoom. Sigma, Tamron, Nikon, Canon, etc, all make some sort of 10-20 or 10-24 rectilinear zooms, but the fastest is Sigma's 10-20 f/3.5, I believe. Nikon has their pro 14-24 f/2.8 which is supposed to be amazing...

There are definitely options out there.

If you're really going to be going FX in a few months, I'd recommend not buying any DX/crop lenses. But if it's going to be a year or more away, I'd say get what you need now. Provided you take good care of your gear, you should be able to get most of what you pay for DX/crop lenses selling them when you do go FX. But if it's truly imminent, go with FX lenses, in which case you could get that Sigma 10mm f/2.8 or the Nikkor 10.5 fisheyes. If you want a rectilinear UWA zoom, the widest that the FX lenses go (that I can think of) is the 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 from Sigma.

I will be keeping two bodies - d300s and a d700 (I am hoping that nikon will release some info soon about 700 successor).. so I will have a crop body regardless.

    Thank you for your advice.

sounds like tokina 11-16mm is a good fit. works on full frame from 14.5mm to 16mm as well

edit: nm..the tokina is not fisheye

one of the things I want to achieve is to get me a lens that will have a fish eye distortion.

sigma offers some really good lenses at about 1/2 of the nikon equivalent.
Here is what i am looking at:
10-20mm only for crop body comes in both a variable aperture 4.5-5.6 or aonstant 3.5 aperture....I would go constrant if I could afford it......but then the 12-24 f4.5-5.6 will work on the D700 also and it very well maybe that Sigma will come out with a constant aperture in the very near future since they did on the 10-20.

As to fisheyes....Hmmm...I have never really considered to use them,,,,,,both of these will work on FF or Crop......8mm f3.5 or the 15 f2.8........

Since I have never used any other "3rd" party lenses I cannot comment on them......but I would not hesitate to rent these to see how they would work for me if I was interested in this type of lens........

But I am considering the tokina 12-24 or 11-16 both constant aperture) for a shoot in Corpus Chrisiti at the end of the month or early June.....as borrow Lenses has had good things to say about it.......

If I have not given helpful info please let me know.

If you want something with a fisheye effect, the Tokina 10-17mm is a fun lens. It is DX though, so keep that in mind.

Does anyone have experience with Sigma 10-20 f/3.5?
