Hi dgriners...
Okay...went out on Sunday with an open eye. Ended up with both a S-curve AND a Golden Spiral. :D I'd appreciate your thoughts...critique etc. This is a great theme...very fun and challenging! Oh and I'm glad that I was juding the last round and not this one!! This will be a tough one to judge for sure!

#2, I like it. I think it fits the theme very well and has the originalality in composition needed. I see two spirals on this one, the obvious one... obviously. The other one is a little less obvious, but my eyes follow the lines more naturally. Starting in the upper left corner and following the tree down into the spiral, finally settling on the tree framed by that spiral. Nicely done!

I like #2 for the spiral theme. It's obvious with the actual spiral there, but you can also visually see a spiral--my eyes follow the line naturally even without the obvious target. Am I making any sense?

Thanks for much for the feedback SilverSX80 and lizzard_nyc! :D SilverSX80... I am SO happy you see what I see! I didn't know if I was able to pull it off since I obviously had no control of the environment around this sculpture and was searching to make it flow. I had been shooting all day on Sunday at the park (in a rainstorm to boot--got the swan there) and then on our drive home I drove by this tram stop architecture. I nearly stopped the car in its tracks! I was LATE for dinner but decided to stop off anyway. I did a 360 of the sculpture looking for ways to create the golden spiral with it as the starting point/ending point. I found those trees and tried to frame the branches so that there was a flow above the sculpture but that it would blend nicely...then the perfect finish was that I was able to position myself to include the smaller tree within the sculpture! I'm anxious to see what others think of the 2 shots. Thanks you two for the input! Very valuable to me iloveyou.gif

#2. You might look at cloning out the car & sign in the triangle between the tree & the spiral. They are only a minor distraction but they are a distraction.

Ditto - I agree with AndMan - and maybe lighten up the bottom right a bit?

Number two with a bit of "gussy-up"....., it really has great energy. The swan could also be worked with with a good crop, too.....might get something really eye-catching out of it.
