I was trying the "Ask a real person" thing today with a few questions about SmugVault. I get a box that says what time it is, and also says that questions will be answered in approx. 2 hours. I can put in my question, but have no idea how to actually send it! The only button in the box is an "X", which then gets rid of the whole box including my question. There's no "send" button. I fortunately saved my question elsewhere on my computer, but I feel really stupid... how do I send it? It's 12:50 here in PA, and I think that's 9:50 in CA. So I don't think it's that no one's there yet...

do you have your browser 'zoomed'? If so, you might've zoomed away the button.

You can just email us, always:

Thanks Andy-- No, don't think my FF browser is zoomed... I can see that page in your screenshot just fine. Then I click on the "help@smugmug.com" link. I get to another box where I'm supposed to write the email. Sorry--- I forget how to do screenshots. It's the dark gray box with 10 thumbs on the left showing SMug heroes. It says:
It's Tuesday, 10:10am SmugMug time and we're answering most emails in less than two hours.

Your email: Subject: The question: So-- I can put in my question, but don't see a way to send it. I don't see how anything could be covering up the "send"
button, because this preview box is already a smaller box in the middle of my screen. It doesn't take up the entire screen at all. So, just not sure how to send it!
[ETA: ahh, I see what you're saying... I don't need the box. Can just email help. Ok, will do that. But would still be nice to know where the "send " button is!

Anna Lisa - it's there - your browser is zoomed I'm sure :)

View>Zoom>Reset in firefox. Or, it's possible you're blocking png images from us, that's happened before as well.

I confess-- I'm afraid to mess w/ the zoom now, because when I did that before, I had all kinds of problems with my gallery views & couldn't get it back the way it was! I never know what "reset" means-- what it's resetting to, so I just stay away from it now! I looked at it though, and it looks like only IE is zoomed at 125%. I never use IE. If FF is, it doesn't say so anywhere. How would I know if I were blocking PNGs from Smug? I'm not aware that I am, cuz everything else looks fine. But I wouldn't know how to check. I did send a regular email, btw.

View>Zoom>reset won't hurt you. You can simply ctrl-+ or use the view>zoom menu to re-zoom how you want.

    Do not fear.

Andy, oh no, you're wrong-- it bites-- BAD!! :D Problem I have w/ it is this: It doesn't say what it's set at right now. So I don't know where I want it. I just want it where it is right now, but I won't have any way to know where to set it if I change it, because I don't know where "right now" is!! I don't know what "re-set" is setting it back to. Eek. See, I nearly went out of my mind figuring out where it should be. Hey, while I'm waiting for my vault questions-answers, here's a simple one I can maybe ask you-- is there a sample SmugVault I can look at? I'm having trouble visualizing how it works, esp. in my case since I'd have lots of unedited jpgs as well as other files, that I don't want displayed. Thanks!

    I'm sorry you won't try it :(

Here's one file in my vault, with 9 related files (it's a pano, so bunch of raws and a psd)

    SmugVault
Oh, I'll probably try it. I'll wait til my SO with the brain gets home! Can your SmugVault be set so that no one sees it or finds it accidentally?

Anna Lisa - SmugVault is ONLY seen by you.

Earlier, I wasn't clear on what this meant: "Your visitors will not see any files represented by a SmugVault default image in your galleries. They will not see the "bundled" indication on your thumbnails. They will see any rendered JPEGs we make from files you add to SmugMug. Your visitors will not be able to save your SmugVault files, but will be able to save or print any rendered JPEGs, according to your gallery settings for that gallery."

I'll be patient now & wait for my answers from help. I think though, now that my coffee has settled in, that it means I can add jpgs from my vault to my Smug galleries, and that only those would get seen. I didn't differentiate before between SmugVault & SmugMug when I read the previous sentence. Ok, this is good. This sounds like a great bargain for the peace of mind. I'm excited. Thanks!

They'll see a rendered JPG if it's in a public gallery. If it's not, they won't see it.
