Anatolian Festival

Made it out there this Sunday with a couple of fellow LAShooters members.

Basically, it's a cultural festival of modern day Turkey and ancient civilizations from that region. It is on the old El Toro Marine Air Base in Irvine CA, that is slowly being converted to a park.

The event is small with a very large central eating area in the middle of what used to be a parking lot and the food and souvenir booths on one side and on the other side a few facades of the differing civilizations of that area.

There was some local folk dancing and a marching band and one large stage for dancers and singers and such. More like a regular cultural festival. I'm not sure it was worth the admission price. If it was free, I think it would have been fine for the level of entertainment/venue that was there.

Well it was a crowded scene, so I mainly went with a long lens to get as clean of a background as possible and keep things more abstract.

Very nice. It's a good mix of personal stuff and the wider event.

As I'm in the L.A. area, I should probably look your group up. :D

Some neat shots. Looks like they went into a lot of work putting this
activity together. I would have enjoyed being there too. Its very nice
to get to see the wide variety of costume outfits like the one on the
young lady for instance. :D Michael

Thanks but the fasades were fairly simple and on the small scale. When it's slightly out of focus it does make for a more convincing background though.
