New Desktop and Monitors on the way...

It was finally time for me to upgrade. I've really enjoyed my Dell XPS One (PC version of an iMac) but it cannot be upgraded very much (4GB max RAM - 1 HDD only) and it was starting to get a bit sluggish when dealing with batch photo editing or video editing. It's been a long time since I've spent real money on a desktop (lately I'd been buying <$400 ones for other people), but I'm excited about what I got. Dell outlet had a 15% off coupon today, so it was time to pull the trigger.

Intel i7-860 (2.8GHz)
1 TB SATA II 3Gb/s HDD with 16MB cache
8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
1024MB nVidia Gforce GTS 240
Dual DVD Burners

Also, I went IPS monitor shopping and settled (for now) on the Viewsonic VP2365wb. It's on the way from Amazon and if I like it I'll order a second. If I don't I'm going to get the new HP ZR24w instead.

Monitor arrived today. It's sitting on my desk, looking sad, with no computer yet to plug into. (According to FEDEX the computer arrives tomorrow.)

Congrats, Is the new one a XPS also ? Sounds like what I need also. Mine is so sluggish that I almost don't want to load CS5.

Yes, it's an XPS 6100, I think. I had to get away from the all-in-one form factor and I liked the way this case looked (lots of ports on top!).

Alright - it's here and set up. I need to find a colorimeter I can rent or borrow - certainly no funds to buy one right now. Also, I need to run some benchmarks to see what the performance increase is. All I know at this point is "fast."
